Embryotech is a startup company offering Quality Locum Embryology Services. Founded by Embryologist Sophie Bird, Embryotech offers both standard and specialist locum embryology services to HFEA licensed fertility laboratories in the UK – with a specific focus on providing reliable locum cover when you need it.
Whether you need short term absence cover, holiday infill, weekend relief or vacancy gap cover – we know how important it is for you to have staff with the correct skills and safe ratios in your fertility laboratory. We provide quality fully trained and experienced Embryologists that also have prior experience working under UK regulations to fill your staffing gaps.

Midweek shift.

Weekend AM or PM shift.

Including Embryo Biopsy, Surgical Sperm Retrieval, IMSI and PICSI.

Trainee supervision or technical demonstrations.

Our Locums are personally recommended and:
- Fully qualified Health and Care Professions Council registered Clinical Scientists (HCPC).
- Abide by the HFEA Code of Practice and the HCPC and ARCS Codes of Conduct.
- Have at least seven years’ experience in human IVF.
- Have at least two years’ experience working in UK clinics.
- Have experience working in at least two different UK clinics.
- Have a clear DBS check within the last two years.
- Have Liquid Nitrogen and Medical Gas Handling Training.
- Have Infection Prevention and Safeguarding Training.

Our clients ask
Yes. Bear in mind though that not all our Locums are Biopsy-trained so let us know if this is a service you require when you get in touch. All our Locums are experienced in ICSI.
Presently, we cover London and the South East, Wales and Northampton. However, many of our Locums are willing to travel in those cases where they are needed for more than a few days’ cover.
Prices vary depending on requirements and location. Get in touch for a quote or pass on our details to your service manager.
Locums will bring their own personalised scrubs shoes, but we ask that you supply the scrubs themselves please. All your usual equipment and consumables are used – and there is a small rebate for this ‘hire’.
